
Adriano Fragano
With a degree in Natural Sciences with a focus on botany from the University of Padua, Fragano is an essayist, activist and proponent of veganism, antispeciesism and Animal liberation, and is recognized as a leading figure in Italian antispecism and radical veganism.
In 2005 he co-founded the antispeciesist counter-information project Campagne per gli animali [Campaigns for animals] and in 2007 he founded Veganzetta – notizie dal mondo vegan e antispecista [news from the vegan and antispeciest world], one of the first antispeciesist magazines published in Italy.
He is the creator of the project Manifesto Antispecista [Antispeciesist Manifesto] and the author of numerous articles and books including Disobbedienza vegana. Ovvero il veganismo come potrebbe essere [Vegan disobedience, or veganism as it could be].
Philosophy and Core Beliefs:
Radical Veganism: He promotes vegan philosophy as a political, militant, and anti-authoritarian stance rather than a simple dietary choice or lifestyle.
Degrowth: Fragano was one of the first Italian thinkers to explicitly tie the liberation of Animals to degrowth theories.
Individual Responsibility: His essays emphasize personal, coherent ethical practices as a necessary base for collective cultural, political and social change.
